The North Carolina court system has five different levels of courts: Magistrates Office, District Court, Superior Court, North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court. Together, the Superior and District courts handle more than 2.8 million cases a year. In North Carolina, District and Superior Courts decisions can be appealed to the N. C. Court of Appeals.
