Separation and divorce is a difficult process. Husbands and wives are faced with tough, emotional and financial decisions that at times can seem insurmountable. It is important to have someone on your side to help you understand the legal and financial effects of decisions that will affect your future. You need an attorney who can objectively evaluate your case and help you to make the decisions that are in the best interest of you and your family.

My name is Meredith Cross and here at Gailor, Wallis & Hunt, we practice exclusively in the area of family law. In my practice I handle domestic issues such as custody, child support, alimony and equitable distribution and work with clients to meet their specific needs. I also deal with collateral matters that may arise with divorce such as domestic violence, alienation of affection, criminal conversation, and other domestic torts.

For many, divorce is a foreign concept and when going through the process, it is very important to understand your rights as well as know what may or may not happen should you go to court. One of my main goals is to have open lines of communication with clients to make sure they understand the different issues involved with divorce.

In many cases I am able to negotiate a settlement for clients without having to resort to litigation. Engaging in forms of alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation or arbitration, allows for the parties to participate in and resolve their issues outside of the courtroom. However, should your case proceed to litigation, I will vigorously advocate for you in the courtroom. I have the knowledge and experience to protect your interests whether you are involved in a contentious custody case or a complex equitable distribution case.

Whether you are just contemplating separation and would like to learn your rights, need help negotiating a separation agreement or are currently involved in litigation, I can help.
