Stephanie J. Gibbs practices family law and related criminal defense at Gailor, Wallis & Hunt, PLLC. Before joining the firm, she was an associate in private practice with G. Bryan Collins, Jr., now Wake County’s chief public defender. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Martha A. Geer at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
In addition to representing clients in family law matters, Stephanie offers representation in criminal cases which often arise in connection with family law matters. Because criminal issues such as domestic violence may arise in family law cases, her ability to address these matters ensures client’s needs are fully met. Stephanie has represented clients in criminal and civil (social services) child abuse and neglect cases, and has represented minors in juvenile cases. She also serves as a guardian ad litem for injured children in medical malpractice cases.
Stephanie was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2003. She received her B.A. in English and Written Communication from the State University of New York College at Brockport, graduating magna cum laude in 1980. In 2003, after working more than 20 years as an award-winning newspaper journalist – a career that included numerous investigative services, as well as on-location coverage of the Persian Gulf war and two hurricanes – Stephanie received her law degree from the University of North Carolina Law School at Chapel Hill. Stephanie was a member of the National Moot Court team during law school and was recognized upon graduation for her pro bono service. You may reach Stephanie at sjgibbs@gailorwallishunt.com.
